Ever feel like you're drowning in your "to do lists" and when you knock one item down another one appears? Lately I have been scrambling for minutes, like those lame Sprint commercials where the mom goes on about their "roll over minutes"; but I don't need cell phone minutes (unforunately I never even hit my monthly 600). What I need are minutes to just use the bathroom, do my laundry, straighten my hair, gather my thoughts, exercise, give my family and Trav some attentive attention and I need HOURS to do my homework. What I wouldn't give for an extra hour a day, an extra day in the week, or even just an extra day in the month. I've been seriously contemplating the effects it would have on the year, and I'm not so great with numbers so I gave up on the calculations, but I definitely think it is possible.
So just hear me out, I'm sure we've all thought about it... If we had 25 hours in a day, I might be able to get up to 7 hours of sleep a night, or I might be able to finish the 1,036 pages I need to read for my next class, or I might be able to enjoy a nice meal with the person who makes me laugh the most. Now, for those who may argue it would be difficult to have an odd number of hours in the day, I am definitely not opposed to have 26 hours in a day. Now in a regular 31 day month, this would only take away 2.5 days. So if we just make every month 30 days long to stay within the 365 day calendar, or whatever the reason we have the calendar the way it is, I am fine with celebrating my birthday (october 31st) on the 30th if that gives more time. OR why not just add the couple hours, we do those silly day light savings time anyway, so why not instead of jumping back and forth all the time, we just add a couple hours. OR if we can just have an extra day a month, why not make every month 31 days long, and those extra four days in February will make up for the other months that were already 31 days long. OR why not have 8 days in a week, we can call the newly created day- Meday. AND because we'll have to make new clocks, watches, computer software, etc. to adjust to the new hours and days, we'll be creating new jobs, which in turn will help our economy! There's the answer!
Now as I say propose this ingenius idea, I am sure my school will find some way to give me something else to fill the hour, or the day. So we will just have to make a clause that protects such things!
...But at the end of the day, this probably won't happen. Oh well, no matter how many free hours you have in a day, I hope you all get a chance to stop staring at the clocks, and smell the roses!
